There has never been a Business Intelligence manual like this. 100 Success Secrets is not about the ins and outs of Business Intelligence. Instead, it answers the top 100 questions that we are asked and those we come across in forums, our consultancy and education programs. It tells you exactly how to deal with those questions, with tips that have never before been offered in print. This book is also not about Business Intelligence's best practice and standards details. Instead, it introduces everything you want to know to be successful with Business Intelligence.

Customer Rating: Summary: Any person with a little business sence could write this book Comment: I wasn't expecting a lot for 15 bucks and I wasn't disappointedly. Besides the numerous typos, I'm sure the writer is dyslexic because the wrong, but often similarly sounding word was used. He could have at least hired an editor.
At first I sympathized with the author, giving him the benefit of the doubt. I was hoping that it was worth wading through the awkwardness of the text to obtain a few bits of wisdom. Wrong. Anyone with a little business sense could have written this book. For example, the "3 Fatal Mistakes.." where too much customization, no training, and no executive support. This is undergraduate business school 101. Interestingly, the next page had the "2 Keys Elements for Successfully..." They are executive support and trained staff! Duh!
As for organization, I couldn't find one. Often, even the table of contents itself is a valuable tool to help you keep your thoughts organized. No help here!
The reviews of some of the BI tools were simple top level marketing blurbs with no real insight to their strengths or weaknesses. There was no comparisons. For example, I know that some tools are very good at reporting while others have in-depth analytical functions. This distinction was not mentioned.
As for the part of the title "100 Most Asked Questions", I thing there are about 30 with the remaining 70 simply paraphrasing of other questions.
And "Consulting" in the title, I can summarize his recommendation with hire a big recognized company. What he fails to realize is that like politics, everything is local. It's not the company you hire, it's the person they assign that really matters. It would be nice to know what are the key skills this person should have.
And finally, "Solutions Guide"? I think this must be in the appendix they forgot to send to the printer.
Instead of buying this book spend an hour reviewing some of the on-line BI sites. They have much more valuable information, for free!
