Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire brings back Harry, Ron, and Hermione for more adventure! Harry is mysteriously selected as the fourth contestant in the dangerous Triwizard Tournament. Each competitor in the international competition must confront a fire-breathing dragon, rescue friends from the icy depths of the Black Lake, and navigate the twisting mysteries of a vast, dangerous maze. It may sound difficult, but Harry is older, wiser and more skilled now. Still, even he isn't ready for another show with the evil Lord Voldemort himself!

Customer Rating: Summary: ohhh EA...how you disappoint... Comment: As been said by many, this game lacked all the wonderful things the first three games had.
First, the idea of the using the Pensieve to access areas and not being able to explore the castle and grounds...really kinda stinks. That was what I looked forward to in the first three games. So many awesome secret passages and the bean bonus room, all gone. Plus, you don't get to see the interior of the castle at all, and the cut scenes are disappointing.
Second, the control of the players is AWFUL. Just AWFUL. You can't make them walk in a straight line. It even gets difficult to get them to move at all. I have to pretty much pound on the keys to select what I want or move in general, which isn't good for my poor laptop! Then, when you actually get them to go somewhere, they walk/run funny...diagonal, backwards, or the opposite direction you want them to go in. It's so frustrating.
Third, the jinxes are uncontrollable. You can't even dictate which one you want to use, yet they score you on how many you cast anyway...
Fourth, the beans. Why do they bounce away? I don't like having to cast Accio every time I want my beans, it makes my jinxing-reflex slower. Plus, the frogs hop away. And it's only in the movies that they moved, not the book. Which is why I liked the other three games...they had more to do with the books!
Fifth, the actual "locations" are interesting (nice to be able to enter the Forbidden Forest), but once you get into them and get the Triwizard Shields (not to be confused with the mini-shields) you're done. And then you have to go back and play more than half the level again to get back to the direction you were going, collect another shield, and start all over again. So tedious and a waste of time.
Sixth, depending on which character you're playing, the others will no doubt stand in your way while you're trying to cast a spell. And the spells...previously the little symbol would hover over the object, but here you only get a little dot...and sometimes I can't even see it.
I'm so disappointed. I hope EA re-does this one and that the future games aren't as bad, that they revert back to the old system.
Customer Rating: Summary: What a shame... Comment: I have played the first three Harry Potter games on PC, and the one thing I enjoyed most was exploring Hogwarts, going on missions, and going through classes, and interacting with students. Ironically, I got to play Order of the Phoenix first which is AMAZING. Then I recieved Goblet of Fire as a gift. I was really disheartened by the game itself. It was a little difficult, but the controls were kind of confusing. The graphics are good. But you couldn't really explore, everything was a mini game. Atleast in all the other games you could explore and choose what mini games you wanted to try. Overall, graphics rocked. But the game itself was dissappointing.
Customer Rating: Summary: Terrible controls, don't buy it Comment: We have Prisoner of Azkaban for the PC. It's a much better game than this one. You are actually allowed to use the mouse, unlike in GoF! We also have the Order of the Phoenix for Wii. That's got it's problems too, but at least the game is written with that platform in mind - this game is simply a Playstation game plopped onto a PC platform. Ugh. Buy Azkaban instead, and don't waste your money on this one.
Customer Rating: Summary: The Negative Reviews are Wrong Here's Why Comment: The vast majority of Amazon reviews cite the following complaint about this game:
- Impossibly frustrating point of view and character control system
Everyone who gives this complaint is using a keyboard and playing single player. The game is awesome! It's reminiscent of a modern day gauntlet -- but IF AND ONLY IF you use 2-3 nice analog controllers and play with other people.
I almost skipped it because of the bad reviews; I'm so glad I went with my gut. After picking up two Logitech Dual Action Game Pads, my wife and I have been having a blast.
* The puzzles are fun and just challenging enough
* The variety of available spells keeps things enjoyably hectic
* The music is excellent and really adds to the excitement
* The card system for building up the characters adds a depth that keeps us coming back for more.
I would have given five stars, but some complaints are legitimate: the perspective is occasionally wonky and the ability to change it would be nice, and more options like resolution or keyboard/controller mappings would have been improved it. But overall it's a fabulous game and with two-three good controllers is absolutely worth it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Controls not explained! Comment: Let me start off with the good things:
-the graphics are phenomenal
-you can choose your character
Now, the bad things:
-unlike the other HP games, you CANNOT wander around the Hogwarts grounds, which I enjoyed.
-The mouse has NO action whatsoever, not even in the main menu!
-I get stuck on so many levels, because most controls are NOT EXPLAINED! Not even in the manual!
-your "friends" (whoever you're not playing with) are so slow in following you and are almost always occupied with sneezing or wandering around when you need help so badly!
-I tried to install this game for one full year and never got it to install until I did some tricky things
Overall, I would have rated this game five stars if the bad things were fixed.
I think that EA Games was just porting over a Play Station game (I can tell by the graphics style) and not bothering to make it anymore convenient. EA did a poor job here. I would sort of recommend this game.
